The Language of Flowers

The language of flowers was an urban installation that was part of the PUBLIC Platform 2016, Western Australia’s first prototyping festival bringing street installations by 25 creatives in Claremont Town Centre.

An installation exploring floriography was created with a cross-disciplinary creative team comprising of Marina Lommerse, Hayley Curnow, Jess Richardson, Thomas Rowe, Jack Holmes, Paul Gray and Leah Dent.

A grand canopy bursting with oversize paper flowers and illustrated blooms in ink and pencil were intertwined with hanging tags hand lettered by Leah Dent, detailing the symbolic messages behind particular flowers. Cardboard flower crowns and sticker sheets were handed out to the public and gift cards and limited edition prints of the floral illustrations were created for purchase throughout the event.
